    What does the kit include?

Tecrostar mezzanines and stairs are supplied with everything you need to install the kit at its maximum surface area or height.

    • All the beams and columns
    • The floor panels
    • All the nuts and bolts
    • Wall anchors
    • Assembly manual
    • Anchors for anchoring the columns to the floor

Personalised phone or email service from our specialists

What load do the mezzanines support?

The metallic Tecrostar mezzanines of the S, M and L ranges support a uniformly distributed load of 40,96 lb/ft² (that means that you can place a 40,96 lb distributed load on each square ft). This is the live load for residential uses according to the international regulations. The total maximum load will be 40,96 lb by the ft² of the mezzanine.

What are the available colours and finishes for the mezzanines?

The steel pieces such as structures, railing posts and the stringers of the stairs are available in:

    • Black and white. Available in stock without additional costs.

    • Any RAL monolayer colour. With extra cost and upon request. Consult delivery time.

In both cases the paint is a lacquer with maximum adhesion applied by electrostatic process with polyester powder paint, suitable for outdoors.

Does the kit include the flooring boards?

Yes, it does. They are structural boards made by european radiata pine plywood 18mm thick. They have tongue-and-groove joints in their four sides.

    Length: 81 7/8"

    Width: 24"

    Thickness: 3/4"

Is the floor tailored? How does it fit to my dimensions?

The kit includes as many boards as needed to install the mezzanine in its maximum dimensions. To install the mezzanine in smaller dimensions, it is necessary to cut the boards as it is explained in the installation manual included in the mezzanine kit. Cutting the boards is really easy and all the required tools are available at our online store as well.

Is there any other alternative to the wooden floor?

No. Tecrostar has not a different flooring alternative. However, it is possible to personalize the finish of the floor adding some accessories on the boards (carpet, platform,...). Check our floor finishes in accessories section. If the customer installs a different floor from the boards provided, it is their responsibility to ensure the resistance of the full mezzanine, since the floor contributes to the stability of the whole.

    Can I have two heights?

No, you can’t. At the moment, our mezzanines are available just for a single height although some customers install them on another existing mezzanine. In that case, the resistance of the existing one should be checked.

What load can support the beams if I hang something from them? (E.g. a punching bag)

It depends on the beam type, we need to calculate the corresponding surface load. For example, a secondary beam TM 15 supports around 1234 lb. You should take into account that if we apply additional loads, a part of the bearing capacity of the beam is being consumed.

Should you have any doubt about important additional loads, contact our technical department.

Can I install a Tecrostar mezzanine outdoors?

Tecrostar products can be installed outdoors (exposed to the elements), provided that a series of special measures are taken during installation and that you carry out regular maintenance in order to ensure that the materials are in good condition. The recommendations are the following:

    1. The Tecrostar mezzanine flooring comprises moisture-resistant plywood structural panels. However, it is recommendable for the customer to apply waterproofing paint to the floor and exposed edges; this will be particularly effective for preventing water from penetrating and getting into the tongue and groove joints of the panels and affecting the edges.
    2. It is also recommendable to install the mezzanine with a slight slope (approximately 2%) to make it easier for water to run off and prevent it from accumulating. This incline can be achieved by installing levelling plates under the highest columns of the structure.
    3.  Similarly, all wooden components (wooden steps, cleats, etc.) should be treated with some type of water-resistant paint or varnish to prevent dampness from penetrating and cracking the material, thereby resulting in the loss of its mechanical and aesthetic features.
    4.  In addition, wooden components should undergo regular maintenance, the surface protection applied (varnish or paint) being checked to see it has not deteriorated and reapplying when necessary.
    5. The steel components are coated with paints suitable for outdoor use but as after one or two years the paint will probably need to be touched up in small areas like edges and corners that could show signs of rusting and loss of shine. It is recommendable to polish these areas to remove any rust and then apply the paint.
    6. If the mezzanine is going to be installed outdoors near the sea, the maintenance recommendations should be carried out more regularly, due to the greater corrosive power caused by the presence of salt and humidity.
    7. The aluminium handrail of the railings does not require special maintenance, as all of them undergo surface treatments to guarantee their performance outdoors (anodized silver, lacquered in black or with wood effect).
    8. The structure and its corresponding floor anchors and braces are designed to withstand the actions of the wind. DO NOT CLOSE OFF THE SIDES, as this results in greater horizontal forces not considered in the calculation.

    Mezzanine exterior

Can the mezzanine be installed without columns or removing a column? Attached to walls

No, our mezzanines are sold with columns by default. We cannot guarantee the resistance of walls or corbels and the customer will be responsible if the product is modified in these cases.

Can I install the mezzanine in a sloped floor?

Yes. Provided that the inclination is small, we can use a wedge under the mezzanine columns to level it. If the inclination is too small it might be not necessary at all and the slope might be imperceptible

Can I install it in a room with trapezoidal or irregular walls?
Yes, you can, because the structure does not need to be in total contact with the wall.

You can adjust the structural floor, working around architectural barriers or irregular surfaces.

When the walls are irregular or when you want to work around a fixed object, the decking can be finished off against the wall

    Adjustment from below:

    Adjustment from above:

Can I install the mezzanine at a lower or higher height than indicated?

It is possible it to be lower it requires to cut the columns and drill again though. On the contrary, it is not possible it to be higher. The cut of the columns can be made by the customer or order Tecrostar to do it.

Can it be installed as an extension to an existing mezzanine?

Yes. This is quite common and the results are very good. The telescopic system of the columns enables the height to be adjusted every 4 3/4", so in the worst case scenario you will have a 2 3/8" difference.

Can the columns be installed moved to the corners?
Yes. The columns can be moved to the corners up to ¼ of the total length of the structure. This feature allows you to work around the walls, switches or furniture you have on site without compromising safety.

Can I add extra columns to distribute the weight?

Yes, you can. However, the maximum load capacity will be unaffected.

What types of stairs are there in Tecrostar.com?

You can choose between several types of stairs:

    • Straight stairs

    • Spiral stairs

    • Ladders

    • Retractable ladders

    • Alternating tread stairs

Where can I put the stairs?

The stairs can be placed in different positions, increasing the possible configurations

Case 1: Exterior stairs, perpendicular to the mezzanine.

Case 2: Interior stairs. You will need a beam for interior stairs.

Case 3: Exterior stairs, parallel to the mezzanine. You will need a stair landing.

Case 4: A different placement to our mezzanines.

Are the stairs compatible with different ranges?

Yes, provided that the height matches. All our stairs can be located in any of our structures. As the structures, the stairs are height-adjustable. We have several different types of stairs, to ensure the height compatibility with the selected mezzanine.

Can the stairs be placed outdoors?

Yes, our products can be installed outdoors, although you should bear in mind a series of special considerations and carry out maintenance of the material to guarantee that they are in good condition. See this section for more details

Can the stairs be anchored to a mezzanine or construction wall?

Yes. They can be installed on a surface that is not a Tecrostar surface. The customer must bear in mind that they are responsible for the strength of the joint and structure to which they are anchored.

How are the stairs anchored to the top?

What stairwell is needed for the electric lift kit?

The minimum width is 29 3/8" and the maximum is 45 1/8". The length should be more than 51 1/8".

Can the electric kit be used to lift non Tecrostar stairs?

No, it can’t. This kit is specially designed to be used with our staircases.

Do they meet the building regulation and can they be used inside a house to access the 2 nd floor?

It depends on the use. The regulation is for stairs for common use and our stairs are for private use. Our stairs that comply are the 42nd: Long Stair M  and  L Stair

How can I turn the stairs up to allow the transit underneath them?

The anchor that joins the stairs to the mezzanine can attach the stairs with 4 or 2 screws. If you choose the configuration of just 2 screws, the stairs can pivot. In any case, the stairs have the same resistance.

Can I vary the direction of rotation of the spiral stairs?

Yes, the direction of rotation can vary.

Can the angle of inclination be changed?

Each model of stairs has an inclination and it cannot be changed unless otherwise stated. You must choose the stairs that best suit your needs.

    Can I add extra steps?

The stairs include the maximum number of steps that are required in their maximum heights. The more the height is reduced, the less steps will be installed. However, you can acquire additional steps as spare parts, the number of steps is designed according to the inclination of each staircase though. An excessive number of steps would reduces the going available for treading, specially important when going down.

Can the railing of the stairs be taken off?

Yes, the railing of both sides of the stairs is removable and, therefore, it can be taken off. However, Tecrostar recommends to instal it for security and because they provide rigidity to the stairs as well. On the other hand, the stairs include the railing; it is not possible to acquire them without the railing.

What are the dimensions and the weight of the stairs package?

For the orders that include just the stairs, the dimensions of the package are:

    Length: 92 1/2"

    Width: 12 1/2"

    Height: 12 1/4"

The weight depends on the model of the stairs. Check the product sheet

Can the spiral stairs be installed inside the mezzanine?

Yes. You will have to acquire the beam for interior stairs.

How much weight do the steps support?

Check the the table with the specifications of each staircase to get this information.

Can I buy the stairs with just one side of railing?

    No, you can’t.

    How is it installed?

To install Tecrostar mezzanines you need 2 adults (they do not need to be DIY experts). It is recommendable to use personal safety equipment like gloves, boots, etc. in order to avoid accident.

When installing range L mezzanines you may need to use some type of scaffolding or ladder for working at heights and manual or electric lifting machinery to raise the primary beams, particularly if the structure is more than 3m high. The other ranges can be lifted easily by hand.

You will need the following tools to install the mezzanines: tape measure, some type of spanner for m10 and m8 bolts and a screwdriver (an electric screwdriver will make the task much easier), spirit level, drill and a tool for cutting the panels (saw, jigsaw, circular saw, etc.)

You can find all the tools required to assemble it and tested by Tecrostar in the tools section.

All the models are installed by following these steps:

Pre-assemble the structure on the floor in the desired area.

Raise the outer structure to the desired height.

Finish assembling the structure and floor.

How long does it take to install?

You can do it yourself with the help of a friend. It is easily installed in a few hours, depending on the product.

    TS8 Mezzanine: 3 hours with 2 people

    TM15 Mezzanine: 4 hours with 2 people

    TL30 Mezzanine: 5 hours with 3 people

The times are a guideline and for assembly only. You need to add the time it takes to measure up, move the components to the location, clean up, etc.

    What is the delivery time?

For products in stock (white and black for S, M and L ranges), the delivery time will be approximately 5 working days from placing the order. Once the product has left our facilities, the normal transport time is between 6 and 8 weeks. The transport time varies greatly and is difficult to control due to many factors: Place of delivery, local holidays, customs, etc.

If we cannot meet this delivery time, we will contact you.

How is the product shipped and received?

Mezzanines are shipped in boxes by an external company in a lorry with a tail lift that enables the box to be unloaded to the ground (at street level at the customer’s address).

How is the package and what are its dimensions?

Depending on your order you can receive different packages: One box for the mezzanines of the S and M ranges or two boxes for L mezzanines.

    Length: 94"

    Width: 112"

    Height: 21 1/4"

The stairs can share the box with the mezzanines if the are purchased at the same time or you can have a separate box for the stairs. Check the stairs section.

How do I get the product up to my home?

Don't be alarmed by the total weight of the product, the components are light and manageable, so you can move them easily and take them up in the lift.  The heaviest components are the primary beams from the L range (86 lb), the rest of the ranges are considerably lighter (26.5 lb).  The floor panels are very light and fit in any lift. No component is more than 94 1/2" long and therefore, fits in most lifts.

What if the access to the delivery address is complicated?

Sometimes, the carrier cannot access to point of delivery due to an extremely narrow street or any other difficulty. In such cases, the carrier cannot do the delivery with the usual truck and he may need to use a different vehicle or extra support. If the carrier considers that the point of delivery is complicated, request a quotation. If you don’t inform in advance that the access is complicated, the delivery will be paralysed until you pay the extra cost.

    Characteristics of the materials

Tecrostar products are manufactured with the most suitable materials for the proposed technical solutions, combining wood, steel and top quality aluminium.

    • The steels used for beams, columns and other components are fit for structural uses with a high yield strength (S235, S275 or S3555, as required). The pieces are manufactured using maximum precision laser cutting, folding and pressing processes. Next a powder coating is applied and they are baked in the oven, offering maximum adhesion and an outstanding finish.
    • Structure hardware grade 8.8
    • Anodized aluminium apt for outdoor use
    • The wood panels used for the mezzanine flooring can be made of European radiata pine plywood or high density structural chipboard. All the boards are tongue and groove on all four sides to prevent faults and unevenness at the joints of the modules.
    • Other wooden components, such as the steps and parts of the handrails, are made from top quality beech.

TECRO has earned certification from the AEM, the federation of Spanish materials handling. We have also received a Gold Medal Award of Merit from the INPEX (Invention and New Product Exposition), the top award for innovation at the largest Invention Exposition in the USA.
